Dog & Cats serves as a visual metaphor for the varied temperaments of human compassion and social equity. By juxtaposing two different domestic scenes, the work explores the disparity in how we "allocate" our love and attention.
The left panel features Havyn and Coco, illustrating a "quiet love"—intense and pure, yet isolating. Coco’s pathetic stance highlights the reality that one can be loved and still be lonely. Conversely, the depiction of the cats and their owner (inspired by a digital acquaintance) mirrors the "socially favored." These figures don't just receive love; they inhabit a collective ecosystem of it. The painting challenges the viewer to look at their own biases: Who do we leave standing alone in their "pathetic" need, and who do we invite into the warmth of the group?
